Researchers say the roundness of the stones was shaped by a fast-flowing stream that probably was ankle to waist-deep. Curiosity landed in the crater near the equator last summer.

Rebecca Williams of the Planetary Science Institute, the lead author of the new report, said that researchers were able to determine the depth and speed of the water that once flowed at the site.

"These conglomerates look amazingly like streambed deposits on Earth," Williams said. "Most people are familiar with rounded river pebbles. Maybe you've picked up a smoothed, round rock to skip across the water. Seeing something so familiar on another world is exciting and also gratifying."

Sanjeev Gupta, a co-author of the report, said that analysis of the amount of rounding on the pebbles indicates that the stream was flowing at a sustained, vigorous speed.

"The rounding indicates sustained flow. It occurs as pebbles hit each other multiple times. This wasn't a one-off flow. It was sustained, certainly more than weeks or months, though we can't say exactly how long," Gupta said.

I zoomed into the picture and i could not explain what it was and my wife couldnt explain it either. My first thought was that it has to be like a ballon caught on the electrical wires below or somthing like that. I went back out to the same place i took the picture and no balloon was caught in the powerlines. I took the picture with my Iphone 5 Camera"

And, oh yeah, I just shelled out 90 for my MUFON Field Investigator Guide and t-shirt; am I suddenly going to find out that the Guide and t-shirt are no longer recognized by the new leadership?

What's even more discouraging is that, when I did a search today for more news about the changing of the guard, I discovered that MUFON seems to have a history of abrupt, and sometimes contentious, turnovers in leadership. Mass firings! Secret tapings of board meetings! Say it ain't so, MUFON, say it ain't so! You're supposed to be proving that UFOs are real and pressuring the government to disclose everything it knows about Roswell, not bickering amongst yourselves!

Sadly, I also discovered that the news of Mr. Clift's departure is not mentioned anywhere on the MUFON website... Hmmm.

It's enough to make a guy want to go off and found his own UFO research organization. And I can say that because MUFON itself rose out of the ashes of another UFO group that bit the dust back in the 1970s. If it was good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

But what to call my new organization? All the good UFO acronyms have already been taken: MUFON, CUFOS, FUFOR, NUFORC, UFOIL, UFORNA, UFORM, UFOLATS, GUFOA, ACUFOS, UFOSS, BUFOS, NUFON, PRUFO, HUFOS, RUFOR, SUFOR, KPUFO, BUFONET--my God, these people are creative.

As far as I can see, there is only one name left to use: BUFORD. As you may know, Buford is a boy's name that reached the zenith of its popularity sometime around 1910 (according to thinkbabynames.com). It also makes a handy acronym for the Bureau of UFO Research and "I hit a brick wall with 'D.' I'm sure I'll come up with something, but if you have any ideas feel free to post them.

They were below the clouds and you could see a space between the lights and the clouds. There were no search lights shining up and no reflection of light beams from the ground.

They were not present upon the bottom of the clouds, but lower. They were right over our heads and made no noise. It moved unlike any plane or helicopter zigzagging.

My friend saw three from his vantage point in the trees, yet when I first spotted them there were at least five. My friend is a total skeptic yet when the last of the orbs vanished he told me he had never seen anything like that in his life and did not feel it was man made.

He stated he felt like he truly saw UFO's. The last orb hovered above us for about two minutes and I have not seen anything like that in my life.

It was not fireworks or a plane, jet or any other man made device. It was not lights shining up from the ground. Neither of us could find any explanation for what we saw.

As a person who has been abducted in the past, I know what my gut told me. These were vehicles of some sort from beyond our planet.
