His career stalled out in the late 1950s in the reserves, and then he was mysteriously invited to join the Pentagon working for Lt. Gen Trudeau in 1961 (when I was graduating from high school). It is indeed true that technology took off during the Kennedy years. (In those days, tests at school had been duplicated on mimeograph machines!)

It's a good thing I am, because big things are afoot, and if I'm going to become a high-ranking officer I need to have my finger on the pulse of the organization. First I read the June issue and it was full of all sorts of crap about the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure, which I did not read about, so I closed that up and opened the May issue.

There I found some interesting news from the editor of the MUFON Journal, a guy named Roger Marsh. He announced that he is now blogging on Huffington Post, which is cool, and that he recently appeared on a HuffPost radio show to talk about MUFON's work, which is also cool. But what happened on the radio show was not cool at all. Also appearing on the show was astronomer Seth Shostak, who works on the very cool Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project. You would think that Mr. Shostak and Mr. Marsh would have a lot in common, and would have a very pleasant conversation about alien life, but you would be wrong.

Mr. Marsh states that at the end of the show, Mr. Shostak got "nasty," and said that MUFON's search for evidence of aliens visiting Earth has "never turned over a single clue--not a single case--that suggests alien visitation."

That is nasty. It's also true, so settle down there, Mr. Marsh. And maybe you set off Mr. Shostak with your claim that what MUFON is searching for is "real," thereby insinuating that what SETI is searching for is in some way "not "real. That might have done it, don't you think?

Shaking my head, I turned to the President's column on the facing page, thinking I would find relief. I did for a time: President Dave proudly stated that MUFON has achieved "a stature never before possessed in our history," and went on to say that we are sought after, consulted with, recognized and respected like never before. That's all pretty nice, and I was starting to feel really good about taking on more of a leadership role with the organization.

Then President Dave's column took a sharp left into crazytown: "Now, that does not mean we don't have our detractors, he wrote. "There will always be a few sniveling whiners who have not gotten the memo. And if they have, they could not read it."

And why won't they accept that MUFON (and I include myself here) is at the top of its game?

President Dave played it pretty cagily here, but his message isn't lost on me. There is obviously another UFO investigation organization out there that is made up in its entirety of sniveling whiners who can't read memos, and we at MUFON must crush them under the weight of our investigative might.

Haunted Places

We live in a vast universe, within a vast number of universes existing side by side. All possibilities exist.

Author Andrea Lankford has written a book titled HAUNTED HIKES: SPINE-TINGLING TALES AND TRAILS FROM NORTH AMERICA'S NATIONAL PARK SYSTEM describing various National Parks that have a reputation for being haunted.

Yosemite National Park - The Miwok Indians claim an evil wind called "Po-ho-no" has the power to entice people to Yosemite's towering waterfall and push them over the side. Needless to say, the National Park Service has installed fortified safety railings overlooking the falls, reducing the mighty Po-ho-no to a puff-puff.

New Jersey Pinelands National Reserve - The New Jersey Devil, a yellow-eyed creature with bat wings and a dragon breath, lurks in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. First encountered in 1735, this unidentified biological entity (UBE) has been seen by hundreds of people. Then again, lots of strange entities reside in New Jersey.

Virgin Islands National Park - Jumby Beach is an idyllic place, unless you're a man and wander too close to Annaberg Sugar Mills Ruin. The historic sugar plantation is reportedly haunted by a female jumby (spirit) looking for love. Other female jumbies are also patrolling the same area. Hell hath no fury like a jumby scorned.

Mammoth Cave National Park - Park rangers, using kerosene lanterns, have reported seeing apparitions on more than 150 occasions in this gigantic cave in Kentucky. Caves can be very spooky, especially on the inside.

Great Sand Dunes National Park - Since 1950, visitors to this giant sandbox in Colorado have claimed to have seen UFOs (cigar-shaped red orbs, multicolored lights and black triangles) hovering above the dunes. But don't fret -- if you're unable to identify a flying object, Men in Black will show up at your door and explain it to you.

Oregon Caves National Monument - In 2000, a psychologist spotted a Bigfoot watching his family. There is a substance within the cave called "moonmilk" which is said to be made by gnomes. And the Chateau is haunted by a jilted bride named Elizabeth. A Bigfoot, gnomes and a ghost - there's a little something for everyone here.

Grand Canyon National Park - A ghostly "Wailing Woman," in a white dress, often floats along the north rim, moaning about the husband and son she lost to the canyon. On weekends, she works the information booth.

Blue Ridge Parkway - In 1891, a 4-year-old boy vanished in the Virginia forest while fetching firewood and his body was found five months later. Hikers along the Appalachian Trail who spend the night inside a nearby shelter claim to have been "annoyed" by the boy's spirit. Indeed, spirits can be very annoying at times.

Big Bend National Park - Multiple apparitions roam the Chisos Mountains of south Texas (Chisos means "ghosts"), including a troop of Spanish warriors, a renegade Indian Chief and a steer seeking revenge on the cowboys who branded him. However, out of respect, ghosts never appear on John Wayne's birthday in Texas.

Chesapeake National Park - In 1906, a miner was killed in an explosion near Potomac, Md. Two years later, a ghost with eyes of fire and a long tail was spotted crawling out of a shaft. Spirits known as "Tommy Knockers," not to be confused with Tammy Knockers, a stripper from Baltimore, have haunted the place ever since.

Other places also have their share of things that go bump in the night, and I'm not referring to the mice in the walls.

Graceland -- In the home of Elvis Presley, a ghost wearing a shimmering cape covered in rhinestones appears in the kitchen shortly after midnight every evening, with the faint sound of "Heartbreak Hotel" in the background, and makes a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Hollywood and Vine -- At the famous intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, in Hollywood, the ghosts of Marilyn Monroe and Tommy Noonan meet on the street corner during full moons to swap pie recipes.

White House -- During President's Day, the ghost of Richard Nixon wanders the halls of the White House mumbling, "I am not a crook." The ghosts of Rutherford B. Hayes and Chester A. Arthur are usually in the parlor discussing the merits of the Taft-Hartley Act and the balk rule in baseball as Nixon floats by.

Crescent Hotel -- One of the world's most famous haunted hotels is in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. An Irish stonemason fell from room 218 during construction. In room 419, a ghostly woman introduces herself to staff or guests as a cancer patient, then suddenly disappears. Rooms 202 and 424 are also haunted. The sum of the haunted room numbers (202, 218, 419, 424) is 1263 -- on December 15, 1263, King Haakon IV of Norway died. A very curious coincidence.

Ghosts are just like everyone else - some are good, some are bad and some are in dire need of a makeover.

In most cultures, people believe the soul moves on after death, from our earthly plane to another plane of existence. In some cultures, people believe thoughts or rituals can change the world, and that misfortune or illness can be caused or alleviated by disembodied spirits.

And some people keep their head buried in the sand so they don't have to deal with Tommy Knockers, Elvis or the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Ufos Have Watched Humans For Centuries

Richard Dolan ranges far and wide over the topic of UFOs, bringing in political aspects of the story, the commercial and the historical. Abductions, mutilations, crop circles and mutes are all brought into his talk.The internet changed UFOlogy. In 1986/7 UFOlogy exploded, bringing in hundreds of thousands of people who wanted to know what was going on. UFOlogists were able to publish their thoughts, and the discussion migrated online. The Old Guard of UFOlogy lost control at this point, and the secrets flooded out.The UFO phenomenon is undeniable. The cover-up is undeniable. There is confrontation between the militaries of many countries and UFOs. Abductions are happening. They are not a military phenomenon. Abductions run in families. The details repeat over and over, so the stories of the victims stack up.The Black Budget which funds the US response to UFOs, is getting so vast that it is becoming a separate civilization, which is drifting apart from the rest of the human world. Corporations are designed to take money out of your bank account, and nothing else.We are not moving towards democracy. We are moving towards a world of slaves and slave owners.Nano-tachnology, quantum computing is powering ahead. People are seen as becoming redundant, of little value relative to the advanced technologies. Who are these aliens, and what are they like? They operate by stealth. They don't want to deal with us openly and publicly. There are more than one group. They are highly telepathic. They don't express any emotion. Some look a bit like us. They may have more than one agenda, conflicting agendas. Are they truthful or not?Are they time travellers, from another galaxy, or what? He doesn't know. They are so far advanced compared to us, it's very hard for most humans to handle communicating with them. Did they create us? Did they enhance us? Do they see us as their investment, as their property?FALLACY - He hears people say - 'If they're so advanced technologically, they must have solved their economic and political problems.' He doesn't buy that. He thinks aliens potentially have lots of social problems. Maybe the higher up the ladder you go, the more troubles you have. That's the truth with humans. Maybe it's the same for them. The more advanced technologically all societies become, the more dysfunctional.QUESTIONS - How do we talk to the government about all their secrets, like visiting the Moon and Mars for X number of years? How do we ask the government to tell us what they know about these alien beings?Why are the aliens interested in us? 100 years ago we had horses and farming. We are on the verge of having your computer as intelligent as you are, within ten years. You can wake up and have a chat with your computer, yet your computer will be a bit smarter than us. A great PA! Our whole civilisation is about to go through a process of major recreation. The intelligent species' watching us must be able to know this. They must know we are about to leap ahead and join their kind of world. The secret will spill out. The world will be put into a panic. The powerful will try to control the spin. Researchers must make sure the real truth gets out. We must get to the bottom of what's really going on. The problem is not only the National Security State. It's very possible that the alien influences that are here are already operating against our interests and in their own interests. We need to find out and wise up.TAP - If the secrets were blown open, the powerful corporations would not be quite so powerful as they are. Fresh air on problems normally helps.We must be fascinating to aliens as a way of looking back at their own pre-modern history, when they didn't have all their technologies, when they were simpler life forms like we still are, to a great extent. Perhaps they're looking for clues as to how to understand their own world which due to so much development, the underlying simplicity of life is no longer visible.The first idea of interacting with us might be exploitative. Probably is. Can we turn that around, and see a cooperative relationship becoming possible?
