Recently another FILIPINO has received acclaim abroad: ACTRESS-BEAUTY QUEEN LIZA DI~nO. The Mutya ng Pilipinas 2001 runner-up and 2007 Miss Philippines-Earth finalist earned an Achievement in Acting plum at the 2011 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM) Awards last Nov. 18 in NEW YORK CITY for her performance in the psychological thriller "COMPOUND." According to the website of the film's producer, Hubo Productions, it was the lone acting citation at the event. "COMPOUND" was also well-received during the festival, and was the only FILIPINO film to have a "repeat screening." Although she initially got shocked over the recognition, the California-based DI~nO feels honored and thrilled nonetheless. "There were a lot of film entries from different countries and to be given the recognition is a big honor. I am proud to represent the PHILIPPINES. It just shows as well that we have a lot of talent back home," the Hubo Productions article quoted her as saying.
